The Life Recovery Bible New Living Translation
I personally recommend this Bible for the addict, but also for the supporter to help understand the mind set and challenges that are involved in addiction and recovery from a biblical perspective. The language is easy to ready and interpret, the foot notes are helpful in relating scripture to specific recovery themes and the Reflections are well written and easy to digest. One highlight that I like is the character focus of the individuals that played important roles in the life of Jesus, founding of the church, ministry, showing that we are all imperfect and yet through our own deficiencies God uses us to fulfill his purpose demonstrating that no one is perfect and yet we can do amazing things when we allow God to use our brokenness to build our faith.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with Codependency. I had a very vague idea of what "Codependency" looked like and as I read the book I identified many traits that fall under Codependency that I was not aware of. It has helped considerably opening my eyes to behaviors and reactions that contribute unnecessary suffering into my situation.
This is an excellent resource for any spouse who is facing crisis in their marriage due to addiction or infidelity (the focus on repetitive infidelity). Dr. Dobson helps the reader understand biblical and Christ centered tough love when their backs are against a wall. Excellent for anyone who has reached the "enough is enough" level or when a partner refuses to seek professional help.
