You are not alone!  The funny thing about addiction is in many ways there is a certain cycle that the substance dependency creates.  No situation as strange, odd, or extreme as it is does not follow these cycles and to believe that there is a "uniqueness" to your experience is dangerous thinking.  It actually has a name, "terminal uniqueness" or "personal exceptionalism" This is often the thought pattern of the Addict, but I find that it is also the thought pattern of the support circle of an addict.  Because of this thinking we tend to box ourselves in because we feel no one can relate to what we are feeling, experiencing or dealing with.  It is a lie!  It is a lie designed to segregate us from the body of Christ and the support of Christians who can offer us love and encouragement.  We began to feel shame and guilt associated with our lives and experiences.  We may feel other's wouldn't understand our particular trials and issues and so we close up.  That has to stop right now.

For an open forum discussion on living with an addict please join the following Facebook group:

The group is a secret FB group meaning that it is confidential.  No one, other than the group can see who is part of the group or the posts.  If you join this page by email your name will not be shared as a follower.  This ministry outreach is confidential.  My prayer is that we find support in each other.  My hope is that if God wills it we will be a physical group.  As more develops you will be kept informed.
