So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view...this means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

  

Discussion:

People are often caught up in labels.  Labels come from the World.  Labels are Man’s attempt to categorize what we perceive and make sense of it.  Labels stick and often carry heavy definitions with them, Drug Addict, Alcoholic, Ex-Con, Slut, these are all words that are heavy to bear and we can easily believe that they define us or our loved ones.  They limit us from our ultimate potential.  In Christ we are reborn!  We are no longer trapped by the label!  How beautiful it is to be NEW in Christ and the chance of just being a Child of God and no longer segregated from society.  We can have hope that through the grace of God we will be redeemed and new again and so can our loved ones.

Journal:

Have you ever felt trapped by a label?  How did you feel being defined by it?  Have there been times in your relationship with your loved one that you have fallen guilty of labeling them and therefore treating them a certain way?

Breathe Prayer:

We are all made NEW through the grace of God.

Meditation:

Focus on redefining the term you use to describe your loved one.  Think of new creative Christ based words. Practice these words.  Encourage your loved one to see them self as made NEW. What a freeing experience that can be!
